Youth Mentoring Week is a celebration throughout Australia of youth mentoring and all its success, potential and opportunity. This week provides us all with a valuable opportunity to:

  • celebrate the positive impact on young people
  • recognise and celebrate the contribution of mentors
  • raise the profile and promote the benefits of mentoring
  • recruit more mentors
  • seek support for mentoring through mentor recruitment and partnerships within communities and including business.

Menslink Business Breakfast - "Mentoring is good for business"

The annual Mensllink Business Breakfast is designed to attract awareness and sponsorship for Menslink's community work. This year's theme is "Mentoring is good for business" and speakers will include  Menslink CEO Martin Fisk, deputy chief minister Andrew Barr, ACT Chamber of Commerce CEO Chris Peters and cycling Olympian and Tour de France competitor Stephen Hodge. Tickets and corporate tables are available from the Menslink website.

Organised by YWCA NSW - Big Brothers Big Sisters™ Sydney. They are inviting you to attend the YWCA NSW’sYouth Mentoring Week Volunteer Event. It’s a chance to share stories with current volunteers, introduce others to mentoring and see how being a mentor really makes a difference in the life of a young person. They're also on the search for more great mentors for the Big Brothers Big Sisters™ program, so come along and bring a friend who may be interested in learning more.

Community Mentoring - Celebrating the Year
Organised by Wallan Secondary College. This will be a final Community Mentoring event of the year with the community mentors and year 12 students. This will be a culmination of the previous events on Communication, Stress Management, and Articulating the future. The College will be having a breakfast to celebrate, and creating an artwork that will be left in the school for future students to enjoy.

Mentoring Celebration Dinner
Lead On Ballarat & The Grampians Regional Mentoring Network invite you to attend a Mentoring Celebration Dinner with Guest Speaker Glenn Manton. For many, Glenn is best known for his time as a senior AFL footballer for both Carlton and Essendon. Towards the end of his 12 year career he co-founded Whitelion, a not for profit organisation aiding youth in crisis in the juvenile justice system. Glenn’s diverse youth work has allowed him to gain a unique understanding of youth and 'their' world. $25 per ticket. No ticket sales at the door. Tickets are limited.

The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is hosting an evening for mentors in the Building Relationships & Initiating Change (BRIC) program to come together and reflect on their experiences over a relaxed meal provided as a token of thanks for their ongoing commitment to the program.

Mortlake College will be celebrating with be a gathering of mentors and mentees to celebrate their work and achievements throughout the year and to congratulate them on their work!

Moreland L2P Program Youth Mentoring Week celebration dinner
Organised by Inner Northern LLEN. The Moreland L2P Program's Youth Mentoring Week Celebration will aim to bring all Moreland L2P Program Volunteers, Steering Committee members including the local Police, Moreland City Council,VicRoads, Brunwwick Youth Services, Merri Community Health (and others) together to celebrate the programs achievements in providing learner drivers from the Moreland area with 1:1 mentoring and practical supervisory support to learn to drive. The celebtration will be over a relaxed dinner at a local restaurant.
 
Battle of the Generations; Trivia Night
The Geelong Mentoring Network is holding a trivia night  where teams of mentors and mentees will be taking part in a Trivia quiz night, with guest appearances, entertainment and a buffet. Gold coin donations towards East Timor trip supporting local people.
 
Mentor Appreciation Dinner
Organised by Kildonan UnitingCare. Kildonan and the Mentor Program would like to recognise the important role mentoring plays in helping young people reach their potential. They are hosting an appreciation dinner to say thank you to their volunteer mentors for their hard work and dedication this year and to others who generously support the program.
 
Making Links Mentoring Program
Making Links assists young people who have a disability to explore their vocational, educational and recreational goals. A few of the Making Links young people listed learning about make-up and beauty as one of their goals. So we have organised a skin care and make-up demonstration where mentors and young people can have fun together learning about how to look after their skin, make the most of their natural features and bring out their inner beauty.
 
Lets Bowl it up!
Trafalgar Youth Resource Centre/Trafalgar Youth Mentoring is celebrating with their young people who will compete in the 10 Pin Bowling event against their mentors! Activity will complete with a pizza banquet.

Monthly Gathering- St Kilda Walking Tour
The Connect Mentor Program organises a monthly activity to be held on the last Saturday of each month. This month we will focus on celebrating the program, its achievements and the friendships made over the last year. We will conduct a walking tour of St Kilda and finish off with a picnic lunch and games in the park.
 
Joy in the Park
Whitelion will celebrate Youth Mentoring Week with Joy in the Park, a fun filled day at Luna Park with ride tickets, food and entertainment for all Whitelion young people and Mentors.
 
Youth Mentoring Week Celebration
Maribyrnong City Council Youth Services will be celebrating Youth Mentoring Week with a trip to Melbourne Zoo.

Community Mentoring Inner North will be celebrating Youth Mentoring Week with 40 students from DECS Studnet Mentoring spending a day being mentored by the Calvary Hospital staff ; learning about various jobs in a health care setting as well as listening to some inspirational speakers.

The South Australian Mentoring Network will be hosting an event which celebrates current mentors and mentees, and attracts new volunteers and young people. Come along and hear some inspirational speakers, see some amazing entertainment and learn about the magic of mentoring. Speakers at the event include the SA Minister for Youth, Minister for Volunteers, the Hon Ian Hunter and Kathleen Vella, Executive Officer of the Australian Youth Mentoring Network.

Marvellous Magical Mentoring Morning Tea
SCISCO Career Pathways will be thanking all of the amazing mentors and mentorees in their program. They are having a carnival theme for this 100 person event, with carnival food and atmosphere including slushie machines (kindly donated for the event) and a magician, spray on tattoos and face painting. There will be speeches by SCISCO CEO and a mentor /mentoree pair, but the event is really about everyone relaxing and enjoying each other's company (and lots of fun food!). There will also be a calico canvas for all the attendees to contribute their art to, with the idea being that they will reflect on what their mentoring experience has meant to them.
