Invitation to participate in YMN Focus Groups

Attention Adelaide and Melbourne Members! The YMN and UWS are examining the partnerships/associations youth mentoring programs form with other community organisations. The surveys conducted so far have provided a wealth of information and we now would like to delve deeper through a series of focus groups being held across the country. The NRGize workshop held in Melbourne from 19th - 21st August 2008, in partnership with the Victorian Office for Youth and the Victorian Youth Mentoring Alliance, was a wonderful success. Result of the Latest YMN Poll
Topic: Is workplace-based student mentoring effective at preparing youth for their future career paths? The majority of responses were supportive of workplace-based student mentoring. Those saw the outcome of workplace-based student mentoring reported that the workplace mentoring to be a huge success, improving the retention rate, attendance and behaviour at school and fostering work ethics. Others commented that “It is useful, because it introduces students to the workplace and is a great point to commence career planning conversations.”
