In this section you will find information on policies and standards relevant to working with volunteers in a mentoring program. These documents are not necessarily specific to mentoring programs nor are they an exhaustive list. Programs are advised to check with their own state authorities to ensure they are adhering to all relevant polices and standards in their state.
Volunteering Australia's National Standards of Volunteering
The National Standards were developed by Volunteering Australia through a consultation process which involved a number of organisations of all different sizes who involved volunteers in their day to day operations. Volunteering Australia also consulted with a number of volunteers over the course of several years.

"The National Standards have been written with the explicit intention of protecting the volunteer, the volunteer-involving organisation and customer of the organisation. Compliance with the standards will ensure that volunteer rights are protected, their role is explicit and they work in safe and healthy environments." www.volunteeringaustralia.org
